Sounds like the ice season is about over up on LOTW. But the Rainy river is fishable via boat! The river conditions are pretty good. Slow current and generally clear water conditions. But the water is pretty low compared to most years, so be cautious running the river and launching boats.
The walleye bite has been really good! Jigs and plastics have been very good, and of course, the tried-and-true jig and minnow has also been producing. According to multiple from fishermen, it seems like the big migration of large spawning females have not started running quite yet. But with the warm temps and sunlight the water temps should warm up quick which will start the migration of big females into the river! So, get up there before the walleye season closes and catch a big one!
There have been some pursuers of sturgeon, and they have been catching some. But not a ton of reports coming in mainly because most people are targeting walleyes!
